Prof. Alexandre Bouchard: Bayesian cancer phylogenetic and fitness inference

Abstract: I will present two Bayesian cancer genomic methods, one to infer fitness of cancer subpopulations, another one to reconstruct single cell phylogenies from copy number alterations. I will motivate the use of Bayesian methods and present work we have done that improve the scalability of MCMC algorithms. My group is working on making these complex Monte Carlo methods easy to use via a an open source package, Pigeons (https://pigeons.run), allowing the user to leverage clusters of 1000s of nodes to speed-up difficult Monte Carlo problems without requiring knowledge of distributed algorithms.
